BFE Method

Indicate the method used to determine the BFE for the subject using a FEMA Approved Method. For help on the identifying the BFE Method and calculation, view the BFE Method page for additional help or may contact the FEMA Map Information eXchange (FMIX) at 1-877-FEMA MAP (1-877-336-2627)

Elevation Datum of Survey
Provide the elevation datum of the subject's property elevations. If the referenced datum is different than the datum on the effective FIRM, provide the conversion factor.

Zone A BFE Source
If the subject is located in a Zone A, additional questions specific to the Zone A BFE will apply.

Flooding Source

This is the name of the Flooding Source(s) affecting the subject(s). The name from the effective FIRM(s) should be used. If the name of the Flooding Source is not shown on the effective FIRM please contact the FEMA Map Information eXchange (FMIX) at 1-877-FEMA MAP (1-877-336-2627) for help determining the appropriate name to enter in the Flooding Source field.

Once entering in the Flooding Source(s), select "Add Flood Source" to continue. You may modify or delete your entry at any time before submitting the application.

Land Subsidence or Uplift

Identify if the area is subject to lowering of the ground as a result of land subsidence or uplift (i.e. water extraction, soil compaction, etc.). If uncertain, contact the local Floodplain Administrator of the Subject's community for assistance.

Protected by a Levee

Identify if the subject is protected by the a levee by viewing the effective Flood Insurance Study (FIS) report or the National Flood Hazard Layer in the FEMA Geoportal.
