Instructions for Using Map Search

Map Search allows users to view and select a flood map panel geographically. A specific flood
map panel or an area of interest can be located by typing in a street address, coordinates or by
using the interactive map. Follow the steps below:

Step 1:
Click "Map Search"

To Select by Address:

Step 2: 
Select the product you wish to view or order.  ("Public Flood Map" is used for this example)

Step 3:
Click on address, type in the address of interest and press the Go button.

Step 4: 

A new window will appear with the results. To order check the select box. To view or create a FIRMette click the green view button.

(From "Map Search") To Select by Latitude and Longitude:

Step 1:
Specify the type of map product. (For example, the user would choose Public Flood Map.)

Step 2:
To search by coordinates, click on coordinates. Two input boxes will then display which allows you to key in the latitude and longitude

Step 3:
Enter the set of coordinate values and click “go” button. Be as precise as you can. (For example, enter 40.82 for latitude and -74.85 for longitude for a place that is located in Warren County, NY.

Step 4:
A new window will appear that shows the product that falls within the coordinates. You then have the option to buy or view the map.

To Select Products using the Interactive Map:

Step 1:
Click the zoom in button.

Step 2:
Place the cross hairs pointer in the area of interest and click the left mouse button.

Step 3:
Continue zooming in until the map panels boundaries are displayed in the desired area/areas.


Use the Point tool by clicking on a particular point on the map; or use the Box tool to select a panel/panels. To use the box tool click on a start point, hold down the mouse button, drag diagonally to make a box around the area or desired panel number (map panel numbers are displayed in
pink) and release the mouse button. The map panels that intersect the point or fall within the box will be displayed in the Results Page of the Store.

From the Results Page products can be viewed or selected for ordering. Once you are viewing the map a FIRMette can be created.
