Issues/Questions from the MIP Studies Workflow Open Conference Call March 17, 2011 Below are questions and answers that were discussed on the Studies Workflow Open Conference Call on March 17, 2011. As a reminder, MIP Help can be reached via e-mail at miphelp@riskmapcds.com or telephone at 1-877-FEMA-MAP. Issue/Questions Answers On the next MIP conference call, I’d like to hear a discussion regarding submission of PMRs as it relates to the autoQC routines and metadata. Our workflow to do PMRs is to download the countywide RFHL data then modify the areas where our PMR is. When we submit to the MIP we find the autoQC routines find errors outside our PMR panels. These errors include metadata references and polygon errors. These errors were apparently introduced when LOMRs were added after the countywide was complete. Should we expect to have a manual pass from now on for counties that interim LOMR work incorporated? FEMA is currently working on a procedure memorandum that addresses how PMRs should be performed in the future. CDS suggested the best option would be for mapping partners to only submit the data that they have revised during the course of the update because eventually that data would get incorporated into the NFHL and it would remove the need for mapping partners/FEMA/MIP Help to deal with all of the other issues that are flagged by DVT. The decision appears to be leaning that direction. A point was raised that there may be some ramifications to keeping the FIS texts up to date though, but the proposed solution was to have the entire FIS text(s) for the community updated. Until a definitive decision is made, please continue to request a bypass and a decision will be made on a case by case basis. You can escalate questions and issues like these through your auto QC coordinator. Now that tasks must be submitted in the HUC-8 folder format, MIP can’t find the metadata in the “General” folder now that that folder is one folder deeper than it was previously. Will the MIP be updated to search for the metadata in the new HUC- 8 folder format? In the meantime, is there guidance on what folder the metadata should be uploaded to so that it may be validated? No updates to the MIP will be made until after the data center migration has been completed. An update to search for the metadata in the HUC-8 folder format can be added to the list of change requests we have been collecting for future enhancements. In the meantime, metadata should be uploaded either to the 7 digit tasksysid folder or the general folder with the 7 digit tasksysid folder. Those are the 2 locations the MIP will look for the metadata file.
