MIP Release 4.1 Service Pack 2.0
Background
As part of its Flood Map Modernization (Map Mod) program, FEMA developed the Mapping Information Platform (MIP). The MIP is a state of the art, workflow-based system and Web portal that contains a variety of information and tools used for the management, production, extraction, and sharing of flood hazard data.
In August of 2011, MIP Release 4.1 (R4.1) was implemented. Its purpose was to install a new workflow server, and enable the smooth transition of Amendments, Revisions, and Studies to that server. R4.1 Service Pack 02 (SP02) will finalize the implementation of R4.1 by returning MIP functionality and appearance as it was prior to August 2011, when R4.1 was initiated. In the period between August 2011 and March 2012, existing Amendments, Revisions, and Studies were successfully transitioned to the new server, while allowing the seamless activation of new projects at the same time.
The changes introduced by R4.1 SP02 are primarily cosmetic. The user interface for the Workbench and Process Admin screens will revert back to their appearance and functionality prior to August 2011. Tabs added to differentiate between new projects and legacy projects, added to enable the transition, will be removed and there will no longer be any differentiation between the two types.
The target deployment dates for R.41 SP 02 are Saturday, April 14th, and Sunday, April 15th. Additional user communications will be delivered to notify users of the exact times when the system will be unavailable.
